Gerard Piqué On Breaking Up With Shakira: “You Don’t Know What I’ve Gotten…”

The footballer goes on a spiteful rant in a now-viral Twitch stream on social media…

Only a few weeks after telling the Spanish daily El País that he is “very happy” since his public breakup — which involved a cheating scandal — with singer-songwriter Shakira, Gerard Piqué in a now-viral clip from his football league Kings League Infojobs’ live stream says, “My ex is Latin American… you don’t know what I’ve gotten on social media from her fans. These people have no lives.”

Describing the backlash the soccer player faced on social media after details of his infidelity and the jam he found himself in after going public with his current beau Clara Chia, he said, as translated by Twitter news source Pop Crave, “I’m very disappointed with what society is,” while pointing out the Columbian songstress‘ cultural background for seemingly no reason.

As expected, Shakira’s fans were quick to respond to Gerard, mostly showing their support for the widely-admired musician while humorously pointing out the hypocrisy of her ex’s actions.

What Twitter didn’t expect is the Miami native to respond to the Barcelona defender’s rants. In a tweet she wrote just hours after clips from Gerard’s interview began spreading widely across the social media platform, Shakira said, “Proud to be Latin American.”

While fans of the Barranquilla-born singer are continuing to show their support for her on social media, others are pointing out the barely concealed contempt the Spanish soccer star might have for not only his ex-partner but also Latin American people in general.
