The latest in an expanding list of Italian designers to donate money in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is Donatella Versace, along with her daughter Allegra Versace Beck. The Chief Creative Officer of Versace donated 200,000 euros to the intensive care department of the San Raffaele hospital in Milan.

“The global crisis that’s hitting us so hard has underlined even more that we are all one and that we need to work together to overcome the Coronavirus. My gratitude goes to all the doctors, nurses and the entire Italian health system that is working so hard to get us all over this terrible moment. I wanted to thank the Chinese delegation of experts that has just arrived in Rome, having brought vital medical equipment and medicines. Let’s be strong, let’s fight this together and let’s all be safe!” @donatella_versace

The designer announced her contribution on Instagram, saying “”In times like this, it is important to be united and support however we can to help all those who are in the front lines, fighting every day to save hundreds of lives.” She encouraged others to do the same, saying that “Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by this disease and to all the doctors and medical staff who have been working heroically non-stop in the past weeks in the effort to take care of our loved ones. This is when we, as a society, need to stand together and care for one another.”

Everyday at 6pm you’ll find us at the window singing our “Inno d’Italia”. It has probably became my favorite time of the day: a moment that brings us all italians together and make us feel like we’re all one great community. Thanks life for giving us hope and for giving us love, for making us understand once again how lucky we are. I’ll try to give back all the love that I have in me to this world in this moment of need

Italy is currently the worst affected country in Europe, with more than 17,000 cases and most of the population in lockdown. In a move to ease the burden on the medical system, Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni has launched a funding campaign that has raised over 3.6 million euros. Along with her husband, Ferragni also made a personal donation to the San Raffaele hospital of 100,000 euros.
