Here’s Why Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Missed Donald Trump’s Buckingham Palace Appearance
The Queen held the event in honour of the president’s visit at Buckingham Palace last night
Donald Trump is currently in London for a two-day NATO summit, and as part of his latest visit to England, the president was honoured with a royal reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The event, which took place just last night, saw many members of the royal family in attendance, including Prince Charles, Kate Middleton and Prince William. However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were notably absent.
The simple reason for the royals’ absence appears to be due to the fact that they are currently taking a break from their official royal duties, to insead focus on enjoying some “much-needed family time,” per reports by People.
A source told the outlet in full that, “The Duke and Duchess have a full schedule of engagements and commitments until mid-November, after which they will be taking some much-needed family time.”
This isn’t the first time the Duchess of Sussex has missed an official visit from Trump, however. Back in June earlier this year, the president embarked on another state visit to the United Kingdom, where a state banquet was held in his honour. Prince Harry was able to meet with the Trump family on behalf of Meghan, who did not attend. While the Duchess was admittedly on maternity leave following the birth of little Archie back in May, Trump’s visit coincided with his labelling of the Duchess as “nasty”.
Perhaps it was for the best.
