12 Empowering Social Media Posts of Saudi Women Celebrating The Lift Of The Female Driving Ban
Social media is sprinkled with heart-warmning, empowering and uplifiting posts to celebrate this female rights feat
On the 24 June 2018 the historic lifting of the ban on female drivers in Saudi Arabia was celebrated across the country and, of course, all of social media. The day marked the Kingdom’s progressive strategies coming to fruition, and has since seen even more monumental occasions take place, from the first female Saudi go-kart racer to the first female pilot. The Kingdom even announced last week the opening of a handful of new cinema screens. Since, almost 50,000 licenses have been issued, including Saudi national Ammal Farhat, who went on to start an all-female driving club in Jeddah.
One year on, we’ve scoured the #SaudiWomenCanDrive hashtag on the internet, which is sprinkled with heart-warmning, empowering and uplifiting posts with women supporting women, celebrating their feats and encouraging more to get their license. Ahead, 12 social media anniversary posts that will give you all the feels.
