I know what’s going through your head right now. You’re probably wondering (perhaps aloud, to your colleagues) whether or not Dubai really needs another reality television series. The answer, my friend, is yes. Hear me out.
Reality television often gets a bad rep, usually for something along the lines of wrongfully portraying a particular destination, group of individuals and/or subculture. The drama between cast members is carefully crafted by the producers (or, sometimes, badly staged by the personalities themselves.). The scenarios are larger-than-life; the one-liners are cheesy at best and downright cringe-worthy at worst. The elements of “truth” within the plotlines are, undoubtedly, questionable – but it’s guilty pleasure entertainment in its finest form.
I don’t know about you, but I’m more than happy to welcome any tidbit of escapism within my hectic life, which is why I’m shamelessly admitting to counting down the days until the premiere of Dubai Bling, Netflix’s newest reality television show – starring not one but ten Arab millionaires – based in the UAE.
Is the series going to be grand and over the top and just as flashy as we expect? Probably.
One thing that appears to be a reoccurring theme within the series is the idea of the Dubai Dream, with an emphasis on featuring cast members who are self-made and from the region – something that deserves to be celebrated, regardless of your personal opinions on semi-scripted television.
Having just announced the new series this morning, we’re sharing everything we know about Dubai Bling thus far.
Who Are The Cast Members of Dubai Bling?
While Netflix has yet to confirm who will be starring in the reality television series, sources report that notable personalities from the region will be making an appearance. The platform has confirmed the cast will be predominantly Arab, hailing from the likes of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Iraq, while also including cast members from India and Australia.
