The latest in an expanding list of Italian designers to donate money in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is Donatella Versace, along with her daughter Allegra Versace Beck. The Chief Creative Officer of Versace donated 200,000 euros to the intensive care department of the San Raffaele hospital in Milan.

The designer announced her contribution on Instagram, saying “"In times like this, it is important to be united and support however we can to help all those who are in the front lines, fighting every day to save hundreds of lives.” She encouraged others to do the same, saying that “Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by this disease and to all the doctors and medical staff who have been working heroically non-stop in the past weeks in the effort to take care of our loved ones. This is when we, as a society, need to stand together and care for one another."

Italy is currently the worst affected country in Europe, with more than 17,000 cases and most of the population in lockdown. In a move to ease the burden on the medical system, Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni has launched a funding campaign that has raised over 3.6 million euros. Along with her husband, Ferragni also made a personal donation to the San Raffaele hospital of 100,000 euros.
