From Festivals to Immersive Experiences, Here’s AlUla’s Autumn/Winter 2022-2023 Social Calendar
A celebration of all things wellness, culture, music and food – in the heart of Saudi Arabia.
The desert city of AlUla is where the Saudi Arabia of yesteryear comes alive and speaks of local tradition and heritage from every corner. Located in the North-Western region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it is an ancient oasis that is opening its doors to those looking to escape the marathon life of the city and recharge.
The year of 2022 is quite an eventful one for this historic location and Bazaar Arabia has all the details of the jam-packed social calendar. You don’t want to miss out on this one.
AZIMUTH: September 22 – September 24
Held over the Saudi National Day weekend, Azimuth is the Kingdom’s first music festival and is back this year with a list of exciting events involving sunrise and sunset performances that gracefully combine beats of the East and the West. The festival is bringing music, art and lots of great food in a picturesque canyon and is the perfect space for art and music enthusiasts to disconnect and rejuvenate in an intimate setting.
AlUla WELLNESS FESTIVAL: September 29 – October 16
Inspired by the changing season and symbolising the constant reinvention of life, the AlUla Wellness Festival is the place to be if you’re looking to de-stress and pamper yourself. The focus of the event, as last time, is the Five Senses Sanctuary, a space created for you to treat yourself. It is a purpose-built spa that brings together some of the best wellness practitioners from the region and around the world to feed your mind, body and soul.
ANCIENT KINGDOMS FESTIVAL: November 11 – November 27
The Ancient Kingdoms Festival is essentially a tribute to the history of the region, bringing the past into the present and highlighting AlUla’s significance as a historical commercial and cultural hub. 7000 years worth of successive civilizations on the Arabian Peninsula have shaped the experiences this festival has to offer and visitors can immerse themselves in every aspect of that culture on the sands where it all took place.
In a significant first, visitors will also explore the linked frontier oasis of Northwest Arabia – namely Lhaybar, AlUla and Tayma – along with music and art in prominent heritage sites like Hegra After Dark.
WINTER AT TANTORA: December 21 – January 21
AlUla’s signature festival is coming back with more innovative dining, immersive outdoor theatre, high fashion and other exciting ventures to let visitors experience the very best of the city in the most tasteful way possible.
For those who can’t make it to the scheduled festivals and marquee events, AlUla’s new Adventure Hub is offering a selection of thrilling activities like abseiling, rock climbing, ziplining and canyon hammocks among others. You can indulge in them all year around – in any season and at any time of the day – but with a side of adrenaline.
The Dates Festival also runs from September 16 – October 8 and is exclusively held on weekends only.
