Gucci and Walt Disney team up to celebrate Chinese New Year with the brand’s most playful collection to date
Since becoming Gucci’s Creative Director in 2015, Alessandro Michele has reinvented the face of the Italian luxury house as we knew it. Along with the signature vintage spirit apparent throughout his collections, there’s always an element of playfulness woven into every one one of Alessandro’s designs, and Gucci’s latest collaboration with Disney is no different.
To celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome in the Year of the Rat, Alessandro has launched a capsule collection paying homage to the world’s most famous rodent, Mickey Mouse. The carefree unisex capsule – the third collaboration between Walt Disney and the Italian powerhouse – is a dedicated range of exclusive items humorously playing around with Gucci’s double-G motifs and Disney’s iconic mouse.
Childhood dreams get a high-fashion upgrade with a series of Disney-inspired sacrves, sunglasses, bags and shoes, as well as a colourful and eclectic selection of ready-to-wear pieces on offer.

The GG Marmont shoulder bag, effortlessly blending vibrant Mickey Mouse cartoon sketches on the classic matelassé leather, and the signature Princetown slippers embossed with the all- new Mickey Mouse print and mini GG pattern – a subtle poetic reference to the house fabric from the’80s.
For the campaign shoot, Alessandro took the team to Disneyland, California to create “colourful, energetic imagery [that] has the look of holiday postcards,” and capturing the very essence of this fun-loving and nostalgic collection.
