Thursday’s Rain in Dubai Will Be “Totally Different” Says NCM
A representative from the office shared extensive details about the thunderstorm expected to hit the UAE tomorrow
Heavy showers and unstable weather conditions are predicted across the UAE on Thursday, May 2. However, the rains are not expected to be as severe as the storm that hit the country earlier on April 16, according to an official from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

Thursday’s Rain in Dubai Will Be “Totally Different” Says NCM
Speaking to Bazaar Arabia, the representative said that cloud formation coming from the west of the country, from Abu Dhabi, will begin and reach coastal areas such as Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman by Thursday morning.
“These clouds will be associated with moderate to heavy rain and hail,” the official said.
Hailstorms are expected in eastern and northern areas, such as Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Lightning and thunder are also expected to hit the country.
On Friday and Saturday, the amount of clouds will decrease with a chance of showers over southern areas, such as parts of Abu Dhabi.

When asked about whether the conditions are going to be as intense as the storm the UAE recently faced on April 16, the official said, “This is totally different. It’s less in terms of intensity and the time the convective (rain-bearing) clouds and rain will stay. Before, it was continuous rain for six hours but this one will take place for two to one hour.”

You also may want to dress for chilly weather as a significant drop in temperatures is expected on May 2. However, mercury is expected to rise back up on May 3.
Due to the unstable weather conditions, UAE public and private sector workers have been advised to work from home where possible on Thursday and Friday.
Dubai Media Office also shared a list of civil entities to contact in case you need urgent assistance.
