After being the subject of public speculation for six years since the couple first started dating in 2017, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up “amicably” earlier this month according to Entertainment Tonight.
PEOPLE confirmed the news along with a detailed dive into why the couple split — it turns out Joe couldn’t handle Taylor‘s level of fame. They “weren’t the right fit for one another,” said the source close to the couple.
Since then, 24-year-old actor Emma Laird has been making the rounds on social media because of one of her recent posts on Instagram captioned “Moments in March❤️?” which includes a picture of Joe, her co-star, along with the other actors working on the Brady Corbet-directed The Brutalist with her.
The Scottish actor has since then turned off her Instagram comments, likely to shield herself from hordes of “Swifties” who began to question and attack her on her post.

While Emma’s connection to Joe seems to be purely professional, some Swifties on social media have their detective hats on as they’re trying to put together pieces of the puzzle. This comes after a blind item sent in to Crazy Days and Nights, a celeb blind item blog, claimed that the British actor cheated on Taylor.
“The A+ list singer did some striking back of her own by throwing the foreign-born actor under the bus about his lack of career. Will she go really deep and talk about the cheating or save it for new music?” it said. Fans took to social media to share their shock over the unconfirmed news.

Of course, it only caused them to try to investigate the whole situation by themselves, which led them to Emma, an actor who happens to be working with Joe on a project. But that’s not all. Allegedly, Emma was seen liking posts about Taylor and Joe’s break-up.
